Taking care of our skin has always been a priority but getting it right is a task. Especially with so many skin care tips, tricks, videos and reels out there, it begins to look even more complicated than it is. While watching your favorite influencers do their routine might make you feel like you need a thousand different things to achieve the glow you want, the truth is that skincare is much simpler than that. And today we’re breaking it down in a step by step skincare routine to help you understand what your skin needs.
Understanding your skin
Before buying or even surfing new products, you first need to understand your skin. There are different skin types and you need to select your products based on what suits you best. Dermatologists usually divide it into 4 categories:
Oily skin is defined as skin that appears glossy as a result of excessive oil production.
Dry skin refers to skin that is flaky and dry, and may feel tight.
Sensitive skin usually has red, itchy regions that can be uncomfortable to touch.
Combination skin is a mix of oily and flaky regions.
You can easily figure out your skin type by its usual texture. Once you have a clear understanding of it you can move onto the next step, which is further identifying any specific needs your skin might have.
Problem specific needs
Apart from the different skin textures, our skin can have different needs based on its problems. This could be anything from acne, to pigmentation to age lines. In case you do have any specific problems, you will have to identify them and address them along with your day to day skincare routine. This could include using an anti aging serum for wrinkles or anti acne face pack to help reduce redness.
The 5 easy skin care steps
You can narrow down on all that you need for a healthy skin after you’ve understood your skin type and identified any problems. When building your beginner’s skincare regimen, you should follow these five steps.
Step 1: Get the perfect cleanser
A cleanser eliminates debris, oil, and germs from your skin throughout the day or while you sleep. This is a must have in your routine especially if you step out often to work or travel. Cleaning your face may help you start or finish the day with a clear, glowing skin. A great benefit of using a good cleanser is that it not only gives you a clear skin but also helps the skin absorb nutrients that you want it to take from other products.
We recommend using the sulfate free Vedaearth cleaners to give your skin a natural glow.

Step 2: Select the right moisturizer
Hydrating the skin is essential for keeping it healthy and glowing. Moisture is required by your skin to replace the water it loses during the day. Moisturizers provide your skin the moisture it needs to remain smooth, supple for a plum skin. It doesn’t matter if your skin is oily or dry, moisturizers are critical for all skin types. In fact, a lack of moisture might cause your skin to create extra oil in an attempt to compensate for clogging pores and causing outbreaks.

Step 3: Never skip sunscreen
Many people only use sunscreen while stepping out in the sun or while spending the entire day on the beach. In actuality, though, sunscreen should be used every day. You’ll also be avoiding the consequences of photo aging, which may include dark patches and wrinkles, in addition to lowering your skin cancer risk.
SPF prevents sun damage to your skin while protecting it. Many products these days already have SPF included in them. But it's always better to carry sunscreen to ensure the best skin protection. Make sure that your sunscreen has SPF 30 or greater for best protection.
Step 4: Include your problem specific products
As we mentioned before, your skin might need supplements depending on its needs. You can include problem specific products to your skin care regime, for a more holistic approach. We have given some of the products you could include based on your skin’s needs.

Step 5: Give time
Skin care always takes a little time to show results. The best thing to do is to be patient and keep following your routine. Aim to stick to your regimen for at least six weeks for the best effects. This is about how long it takes your skin to complete the cycle of replacing old skin cells with new ones. It might seem like a long wait but it's all worth it in the end.
